Senior Partner and Co-Founder of Epic River, LLC, Jeff Grobaski, is scheduled to speak at the 2014 Bixpo Workforce Symposium hosted by BizWest Media and the Larimer County Workforce Center. The event offers Northern Colorado business leaders and community stakeholders an opportunity to discover innovative models, best practices and proactive strategies that address workforce challenges.

Grobaski's BixTalk, "The Talent Reach: High Tech High School Interns" will focus on why Epic River doesn't just employ interns over the summer but instead works them into the fold year round. Epic River's flexible work day takes the lead in making this possible. Mirroring the company's agile process for creating software, the work day is just as adaptable.

Grobaski noted, "It's not uncommon to see our student interns at different points of the day, depending on whether school is in session and how great the homework load is for that day. In turn, the students find themselves working for a high-tech company that is willing to teach some of the newest technologies in software. The symbiotic relationship breeds a culture of innovation and rapid response."

But Epic River's unique approach to high school interns isn't the only factor that the company has altered in its hiring practices. Mr. Grobaski will also join a panel of three other professionals, who will share how they find the right people and fill the job pipeline. One way Epic River does this is to offer benefits to its part-time employees and provide a flexible work schedule, bringing a balance between work and motherhood to many of its female employees.

Grobaski said, "Opening our job searches to include stay-at-home moms looking to rejoin the workforce has opened our pipeline significantly."

The event is scheduled for September 30 from 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Loveland, Colorado.
